A Strongly Worded Letter to the North Pole

An open letter to Santa from a concerned parent

Dear Santa-

Early Saturday morning (ok, it was 10:30), we showed up in our Christmas best, with bells on to take our obligatory photo on Santa's Lap.  Imagine our surprise and disappointment when your elves told us that you were feeling under the weather and would be a little late.

Granted, my child was off to a rough start that morning, but I'm certain that nothing could have perked her up like sitting in a stranger's lap, especially a stranger in red suit with a white fluffy beard.

Your elves so kindly offered to let the children take a few photos in your big red sleigh.

We appreciated the gesture, but all in all, you leave us with an item still not checked off of the ever- growing Christmas To Do List.  We even enjoyed a leisurely lunch while we waited for you to get to feeling better.  Yet, when we stopped by your sleigh again, your elves mentioned that you would not be coming AT ALL.

Oh, Santa!  You have left us all disappointed and worried.  Are you taking care of yourself this holiday season?  I'm not sure what exactly had you under the weather on Saturday, but I certainly hope it wasn't a little too much eggnog.  If that's the case, surely, you could have rallied for the sake of the children.

I hope you won't be ill on Christmas Eve evening. I can only imagine the disappointment of children everywhere, not just in the downtown Fort Worth area.  And I'm not sure about the sick leave policy at the North Pole, but I can only hope absences are not permitted that night.

As for our family, we are the search for another Santa with which to take the priceless and full of nothing but good memories photo.  Perhaps, we can find a department store Santa.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, Santa.  Hope to see you on the 24th!

Love,

EC's Mommy

PS- You could easily make up for this entire incident by leaving a few sparkly jeweled items under my tree.
